Just curious. It seems like some of you are from England. Not sure because I never heard of some of the places in other posts. I'm from Ashtabula, Ohio, USA. It is the northernmost county in Northeast Ohio and right along the shores of Lake Erie. Boating is fun in Lake Erie but can be very trecherous at times. The lake can be smooth as glass and then in 5 minutes you can be battling 4'+ waves. Lake Erie is a shallow lake so the waves are right next to each other. It's not like deeper lakes where you have pauses in between big waves. One right next to the other. IP: Logged |

OK! I'll go first, or is it second? We reside in Maryland, USA in a region known as DELMARVA since it is a peninsula comprised of the easternmost parts of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Like many places it should probably be it's own state. We're 30 minutes from one of the nicest beaches on the East Coast - Ocean City. The town I call home is Salisbury, MD. And we're originally from New York City. Who's next? Bill IP: Logged |

I'm from Toronto - now living just east along Lake Ontario about 40 minutes in Whitby. Gord's always been in my backyard so to speak, so it's amazing to know he has fans from all over! I thought it was just me and some folks in the Torono area! LOL CharIP: Logged |

1964-1987: East Detroit and Sterling Heights, Michigan. 1987-Present: Los Angeles, California. I surely miss seasons, but not thick ice on windshields. I miss my family, but now have L.A. in-laws (never quite the same, of course). I miss trips into Ontario, but now have neighboring mountains, desert and ocean. I do not miss tornadoes (and those eerie green skies), but nor do I treasure earthquakes (was unnerved for 3 months after the 1994 shaker). I do miss more traditional midwest values, and now must contend with the embarrassingly misguided values of Hollywood. And whatever you've heard about L.A. traffic...multipy it by a million.IP: Logged |

Incidentally, my dad was born in Ashtabula...I was born in Minnesota, and grew up there and in Canada. I live in Colorado now. I miss the Great White North now and then...until I watch the Weather Channel in January.IP: Logged |

Good topic, Watchman!I'm from over the Pond in the UK. I was born in London but now live in Surrey, just on the border of Kent, known as the Garden of England. Gord used to tour here regularly in the 70s and 80s so there are still some Lightfoot fans over here. IP: Logged |

I've been in San Diego, California, for about 7 months now. I moved out from New Hampshire after falling in love with the area while on vacation year before last - I came out to meet a friend and catch my first Lightfoot concert in Auguast of 2000. It was a life changing vacation in more ways than one IP: Logged |

Was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. Two years after high school a friend urged me to "come to Virginia and work in DC" like she did. Off I went. Met a fella, got married, raised lots of kids and lived in Annandale, Virginia...a DC suburb. The kids grew up and left and so did I...without the fella! Came to Winchester, Virginia, which is about 75 miles west of DC in the northern Shenandoah Valley. Restless, I know what you mean about those eerie green skies. We don't get them as much here nearly as we did back home but every time we do I get quite nervous.IP: Logged |

I'm from England, and was born and raised in Epsom, Surrey. I now live in Lancashire, in a village called Newton with Scales, and have been here since 1978. Newton is in the Fylde Coast area of Lancashire and is approx 35 miles from Manchester and Liverpool.

Like Joveski, I also live in Melbourne, Australia. ( south east corner of Australia.) Actually I live in Frankston which is 40km. south of Melbourne, on the shores of Port Phillip Bay. In the 1950's when the author Nevil Shute moved from England to Australia he purchased a property about 5km from me. He said he came here because the area had the best climate in the World. Although we are 38deg South, the same as Washington is North, it never snows here, and the temperature is seldom below freezing. Although in Summer the temperature will on a handfull of occasions be above 100deg. ( today in the middle of Autumn the forcast is for 98deg. this is very rare ). Gordon has been here once in 1973/ 4 ??? ( help Val ). If your looking for a place to go on Vacation, Australia is the place for the best and cheapest Holiday you have ever had. ( one US dollar = two Australian dollars. ).Keep Smiling Ron IP: Logged |

actually Ron, that's the preil of living near the mornington peninsular!. Here in Preston, we get the occasional dusting of snow overnight in winter every few years and the temps are about 2 or 3 degrees cooler than the city temp overnight in winter - around 0 accasionally. Mt Dandenong gets snow quite often. Just my daily weather observations! In 1986 here, it snowed like crazy, i rememberIP: Logged |

I'm from upstate NY, quite close to Albany. I'm so glad that Gordon schedules some upstate NY concerts because we really appreciate his music. So many of his "nature lyrics" remind me of our own rural area (lakes, loons, paddling, hiking) or our vacations in the beautiful Adirondack mountains. I'd love to have Gordon come kayaking with us. (Or, Gord could bring his canary yellow canoe!) At night, we could play some tunes and sing! How's that for a summertime dream? IP: Logged |

As you can tell from my screen name, I'm from the Prarie State, IL. Live in the south west 'burbs of Chicago, the Palos area. On clear days you can see the downtown loop from an overpass in town, only about 18 miles away as the crow flies. Have a summer place in SW Michigan and have adopted MI as my favorite state. First saw Gord in '72 on a show he did for the PBS station in Chicago, WTTW, called "Made in Chicago". Remember thinking: "my God, this guy is great! Doesn't sound like anybody else!" 30 years later he's still unique!IP: Logged |

Another one from the Prarie State, IL. I live in the Far West Suburbs, Warrenville, 40 miles west of Chicago. I grew up 50 miles north of Chicago on the Chain of Lakes, McHenry & Fox Lake. Lot's of water, snow and wilderness, back then. I would turn on 2 radios in two different rooms, stand in the middle and listen to IYCRMM on WLS radio. Things have changed much since then, but the song remains the same. Kim

I am from Utica in upstate New York about 50 miles due east of Syracuse and 90 miles due west of Albany on the route of the Erie Canal. The first time I heard "The Wreck..." was while traveling up north to a friend's camp near the St. Lawrence. When we got there we took a litte tour boat out into the shipping channel. Gord's gift for writing words and music has been in my blood ever since.IP: Logged |
